About Zuma Film Festival

The theme of the 2018 Zuma Film Festival is Archiving for Creativity. It focuses in reigniting the consciousness in film makers and other stakeholders on the important role of audio visual archiving of creative works and its posterity values. It is a paradigm shift to protect and preserve several thousands of films that have been produced in Nigeria, in the past decades. Several pieces collections of audio-visual and film materials are being lost due to non-preservation. In some ways, ZUFF 2018 sets to highlight and redefine the need and potentials of audio visual archiving in Nigeria. ZUFF 2018 also seeks to bring to the front burner the need to preserve Nigeria’s memory for future generations of Nigerians, with no end point. Our goal is to have these images, and the sounds associated with the images, available for present and future generations. As the world is being driven by digital technologies, film making in Nigeria and indeed around the world equally should move with these inventions and innovations.

The theme of this year’s film festival “Archiving for Creativity” -focuses on reigniting the consciousness in film makers and other stakeholders on the posterity values of audio visual archiving. In some ways, this year’s theme is a paradigm shift to protect and preserve several thousands of audio-visual and film materials that have been lost due to non-preservation and bring to the front burner the need to creatively preserve Nigeria’s memory for future generations.

Our quest is to mount a world class film festival with the glitz and glamour that showcases the entire Nigerian motion picture sector, as well as attract foreign film makers to be part of this great festival as a signpost of Nigeria’s global reflection. Equally, we have increased our bouquet for the film festival and aligned it with what is trending in the world of motion picture production. New impetus has been injected into the festival which is being positioned as a national and international brand for Nigeria.  Participants are expected from over 50 countries from Africa, Asia, Europe, America and Nigerians in diaspora.

Zuma Film Festival 2018 is facilitated by the Nigerian Film Corporation.  The Zuma Film Festival is Nigeria’s Foremost Film Festival.
